Description
The 30th “Conference of the Parties” to the UN Climate Change Framework took place in Belém, Brazil, November 10-21 2025, with more than 50,000 delegates converging on the city to negotiate and update the world’s coordinated response to human-caused global warming.
Event Rap was on site for nine days of the two-week event, with three artists sporting delegate badges provided by two different civil society organizations, with the express mandate of amplifying and elevating the most important messages and events at the conference, creating spontaneous moments of joy, celebration, and though-provocation with original rap songs created entirely in real time.
Over the course of nine days, Event Rap artists Baba Brinkman, Dex McBean, and Baba Brinkman performed six fully improvised hip-hop sets at activations and after parties, as well as twenty-four ‘rap up’ recaps of panels, presentations, and side events, each one an original song written in less than 90 minutes and performed with no rehearsal at the end of the event.
The result is a series of dynamic rap videos that capture the on-the-floor feeling of COP30 and the key debates, issues, and calls-to-action that fueled the multilateral negotiations and activations at the conference.
