Google Quantum Summer Symposium

event
July 15, 2020

Description

The Google Quantum Summer Symposium brings together engineers and industry leaders each year to discuss the state of this cutting-edge but poorly-understood new technology, and in 2020 Google turned to Event Rap founder Baba Brinkman to bring Quantum-themed custom rap content to their big event.

The song “Qubits” was written in collaboration with Google VP of Engineering Hartmut Neven, who peer-reviewed the lyrics to ensure clarity and scientific accuracy, and Baba performed the song live at the Summer Symposium, which was converted to a virtual event in 2020 due to COVID.

In addition to the premiere performance of “Qubits” Baba also performed a ‘rap up’ recap of the talks, and an interactive freestyle set riffing on words suggested by the attendees via the YouTube live stream, with the videos published on Google’s TensorFlow YouTube channel.

The “Qubits” rap video continues to gain views and positive comments on YouTube, with more than 12K views and counting.
