UCSD CARTA Research Center commissioned Event Rap to produce a collection of videos about human origins for its 20th Anniversary celebration.
The Center for Academic Research and Training in Anthropogeny (aka CARTA) at UCSD brings together a cross-disciplinary group of scientists and scholars to study human origins and the many ways our evolutionary past can help us to understand and solve key challenges in the present and future.
Event Rap worked with CARTA through 2022 for the organization’s 20th Anniversary to capture some of their key research questions, curriculum topics, and research findings, in a series of rap videos, exploring everything from human evolution to the origins of language to key hypotheses explaining our anatomy, physiology, and lifestyle, including the Persistence Running Hypothesis and the Grandmother Hypothesis.
The resulting “peer reviewed rap” videos form an exciting deep dive into the origins of humanity, now available as a free resource for educators worldwide.
