Description
The sixth session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-6) took place from 26 February to 1 March 2024 at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, with global leaders convening for high-level talks about multilateral, multi-national treaty policy relating to plastics, pollution, climate change, wildlife conservation, and sustainability, and UNEP hired Event Rap as the featured conference entertainment.
During the four-day event, Event Rap provided an original custom rap song called “Get with the Programme” co-written by Dex McBean and Frida Amani, which premiered for 1,300 delegates in the main assembly hall to kick off the first day, and artists Baba Brinkman and Dex McBean also performed several pop-up freestyle sets and ‘rap up’ recaps of high-level dialogue sessions over the course of several days, rapping for government ministers, national delegates, and the heads of major UN organizations such as UNDP and the IPCC.
“Get with the Programme” now has over 219K views on the UNEP YouTube channel as the official conference recap video, and the live performance of this brand new song represented the first-ever custom rap content presented at the UN.
